Coinbase Wallet Gambling 2026: the app is not the exchange

Two different things carry the Coinbase name, and a Coinbase Wallet gambling question is usually about the wrong one. Coinbase.com is an exchange account with a rule on gambling in its Prohibited Use Policy. Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody app and browser extension whose keys are yours, listed at two of the ten casinos reviewed here. This guide keeps the two apart, quotes the clause, and walks the wallet from install to its first casino signature.

The two Coinbases, and which one a casino can see

The exchange account

Coinbase.com holds your coins for you, under a user agreement with a Prohibited Use Policy attached. It is where most people buy crypto. No casino login shows a Coinbase account button, because an exchange account cannot sign a message on a website; it can only send coins to an address.

The self-custody wallet

Coinbase Wallet is a separate app and browser extension. Its store listing calls it a self-custody crypto wallet that puts you in control, published by Toshi Holdings Pte. Ltd, with a million users on Chrome. The extension connects to dapps across Ethereum and all EVM-compatible networks, including Avalanche, Polygon and BNB Chain, and sends and receives Solana and SPL tokens; the app names BTC, ETH, SOL and dozens more chains.

How it reaches a casino

Through pickers rather than its own button. Metawin's single Web3 Wallet button opens a picker of 560 wallets, Coinbase Wallet among them; Just.bet's Continue with a wallet lists it second after MetaMask. No reviewed casino shows a Coinbase Wallet button by name, and the one with the most buttons, Solcasino, shows eight tiles without it.

The exchange's clause, in its own words

Unlawful Gambling: Lotteries; bidding fee auctions; sports forecasting or odds making; fantasy sports leagues with cash prizes; internet gaming; contests; sweepstakes; or games of chance that are not sanctioned by a governmental body or regulatory authority.

That is the gambling provision in Coinbase's Prohibited Use Policy, effective 31 January 2022, which the user agreement incorporates. It restricts use: what a Coinbase customer may use Coinbase's services for. The hinge is the last provision, games of chance that are not sanctioned by a governmental body or regulatory authority. That is a question regarding the casino's licence, not the wallet.

Each review quotes the licence as the casino states it, or marks it NOT DISCLOSED, because that wording decides the provision. This website gives no verdict regarding whether a particular casino is sanctioned where you are; is Web3 gambling legal? explains how to read it.

The wallet is outside the provision by design: it is self-custody, and in Coinbase's own product definition, you are in control of it. Coinbase Learn describes the normal flow as buying on the exchange and then transferring to Coinbase Wallet by linking the account or by the wallet's address. From the wallet, the coins can be sent anywhere you sign.

Set-up, from the exchange to the first signature

Install from coinbase.com/wallet. The page links the app stores and the Chrome extension; the extension's publisher on the store is Toshi Holdings Pte. Ltd and its site is wallet.coinbase.com. A search ad is never the way in.
Write the 12-word recovery phrase on paper. Coinbase Learn defines a seed phrase as a sequence of random words that stores the data required to access or recover cryptocurrency, and its import screen asks for a 12-word phrase. It is generated on your device; Coinbase does not have it and cannot replace it.
Move coins from the exchange to the wallet. Coinbase Learn names two ways: link the Coinbase account and choose the coin and amount, or send from any exchange to the wallet's address, found behind the QR code at the top of the home screen. Network fees on that transfer go to the network, not to Coinbase, in Learn's words.
Pick the network the casino names. The same coin lives on several chains, and the cashier lists which it credits. Metawin takes ETH, USDT or SOL through the connected wallet; Just.bet takes USDC on Arbitrum and nothing else.
Keep the casino account small. A second wallet or account for play holds the evening's money. The burner wallet guide covers it; Coinbase Learn covers the transfer in and out.
Open the casino's login and pick Coinbase Wallet. At Metawin, press Web3 Wallet and find it in the picker or scan the QR with the app; at Just.bet, press Continue with a wallet and choose it from the list. A connect prompt, then a sign-in message.

What the wallet asks you to approve

The connect prompt. The wallet asks if the site can get your address. Revealing the address shows the site your address and the balances on it, and lets the site ask for signatures; it does not let the site move anything.

The sign-in message. A short message with the site's name and signed with your key. It is not a transaction; nothing leaves your wallet and no network fee is paid. At Metawin and Just.bet, that signature is the entire login, and nothing is asked of you after that.

What never belongs at login. A transaction with a fee, or a token approval, does not prove your identity, and both change what the site can do with your coins. A login that opens one is a reason to close the tab. Token approvals covers the one that matters most.

What to keep an eye on

The exchange's rules travel with the exchange. Coins sent from a Coinbase account straight to a casino address are a Coinbase account transaction, and the Prohibited Use Policy above is what governs it.

The recovery phrase never goes into a website or a support chat. Coinbase cannot restore the wallet, and anyone with the phrase can empty it.

A deposit becomes the casino's balance the moment it arrives. The wallet secures the key, not the money on the other side; the licence and country clauses on each review decide what happens there.

On-chain and custodial draw the line between your wallet and your balance, and a burner wallet for gambling is the reason the casino wallet stays small.

Coinbase questions players ask

Can I use Coinbase for gambling?

Coinbase, if you mean the exchange account, then its Prohibited Use Policy, effective 31 January 2022, lists Unlawful Gambling among the uses it bars: lotteries and internet gaming and games of chance that are not sanctioned by a governmental body or regulatory authority. Whether a casino falls under that wording depends on its license, which each review here quotes or marks NOT DISCLOSED. No casino has a Coinbase account button in any case; the exchange is where coins are bought, not where a casino login happens.

Can I use the Coinbase Wallet app for gambling?

Coinbase Wallet is self-custody. According to its store listing, it is a self-custody crypto wallet. With it, you control the keys. The app has no controls on where you sign. Two of the ten reviewed casinos, Metawin and Just.bet, list it, and no information is requested after signing at either.

Is Coinbase Wallet a real wallet?

Yes, and it is a different product from the exchange account. The extension, published by Toshi Holdings Pte. Ltd on the Chrome Web Store, has one million users, and a version dated 5 October 2026. The app stores BTC, ETH and Solana (SOL) and many other blockchains. Your recovery phrase is generated on your device. This means that Coinbase cannot restore it or spend from it.

Can I cash out a Coinbase Wallet?

Wallets can hold coins, but to cash out means selling the coins, typically at an exchange. Coinbase Learn describes a Coinbase account and a Coinbase Wallet as being linked, and a transfer in either direction. A transaction with any other exchange is by that exchange's deposit address on the same blockchain. Casino winnings come first. Which casinos list Coinbase Wallet?

Metawin lists it in the wallet picker its login opens, and Just.bet lists it second behind Continue with a wallet. Dexsport, BC.Game, and Solcasino offer a WalletConnect option, and their picker draws from the same registry as Metawin’s, so the QR route is open as well. Bitcasino.io, Roobet, Rollbit, and Fairspin offer no routes at login.

Does Coinbase see what I do in Coinbase Wallet?

It’s a stand-alone wallet with keys controlled by you. Anything on-chain is public, including deposits and withdrawals. A login signature leaves no transaction. Winnings may be taxable where you live; this site gives no tax advice.

What is the Base App on Coinbase's site?

The Coinbase site lists a Base App along its exchange products. The casinos reviewed here list the wallet as Coinbase Wallet, and the extension carries that name on the Chrome Web Store. This guide uses Coinbase Wallet. If the app on your phone shows a different name, the address is what a casino sees, and the name doesn’t matter.

Does a Coinbase Wallet login need an email?

Not at the two casinos that list it. Metawin asks for nothing after the signature and keeps one account per wallet address by clause 4.0 of its terms; Just.bet asks for nothing and keeps the one-account rule in clause 4. The no-registration ranking quotes each casino's verification clause.
